Porto - Douro Valley - Porto (8 days)

Day 1 – Arrive Porto

Fly from London to Porto and transfer to vessel. Embarkation from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Day 2 – Exploring Porto

Porto: Casting off 2:30 p.m.
Guided tour of Porto, the birthplace of port wine, including wine-tasting in a winery.

Guided city tour through port wine’s namesake Porto: Fishermen, seafarers, traders and ship builders from Porto were all part of the Portuguese explorers. In the 19th century, Porto gave its name to one of the finest wines in the world: the port wine that must be tried when visiting a typical port wine cellar. Discover the narrow streets and centuries-old buildings as well as the city's trademark, the iron bridge, built under the direction of Gustav Eiffel. From the cathedral on Penaventosa Hill is a breath taking view over the river. The view from the Pilar Monastery, which is located on a hill above the town of Vila Nova de Gaia, is just as unique.

Entre-os-Rios: Mooring 6:30 p.m.

Day 3 – Entre-os-Rios / Bitetos / Régua

Entre-os-Rios: Casting off 8:30 a.m.

Régua: Mooring 12:00 p.m.
Guided excursion into the pilgrim city of Lamego with its impressive flight of stairs and the Gothic cathedral: Lamego was created in the Portuguese Baroque. The Saint of Remedies found his final resting place in Lamego. If you like, you can walk around 600 steps down from the pilgrimage site to the city. The Gothic cathedral and the local museum with an impressive collection of paintings are particularly worth seeing. Lamego is also known for various specialties: smoked ham, bola de lamego (bread filled with smoked ham) and the Raposeira sparkling wine.

Day 4 – Régua / Pinhão / Vega Terrón / Barca d'Alva

Régua: Casting off 9:00 a.m.

Numerous members of the nobility settled in Vila Real between the 15th and 17th centuries. The main attraction of the city is the Mateus Palace, which was the mansion of the last Count of Vila Real. The Baroque building is located in a lovingly maintained park with bizarrely cut hedges and ancient trees. The Count's gardens are one of the most the most beautiful places in Europe. You will also enjoy sightseeing in the Palace.
