Potsdam - Dresden - Prague (8 days) - Also in reverse

Day 1 – Potsdam

Fly from London to Berlin and transfer to vessel. Embarkation from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Guided city tour of Potsdam with a visit to Sanssouci Park (starting at 12:45 from Berlin): We drive through Potsdam’s historic city centre with its finely restored buildings, past the Dutch Quarter with its attractive gables. On our way to Cecilienhof Palace we pass the Glienicke Bridge, which played an important role in the Cold War. We take a stroll through the palace park before going on to the Summer Palace of Sanssouci. Fredrick The Great had this palace built in order to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital, to live without cares (sans souci) and to immerse himself in art, music and philosophy.

Day 2 – Magdeburg

Arrive 12:00pm - Depart 7:00pm

Guided city tour through the historical old town of Magdeburg: Today you will explore the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Our coach tour makes its first stop at the historic Town Hall. A short guided walk takes you to the Guericke Fountain and the Old Market with its statue of the Golden Rider. You then re-join the coach to drive to the Cathedral, dedicated to St. Maurice and St. Katharina. From here we take a short walk to the colorful Hundertwasser House, also known as the "Green Citadel".

Day 3 – Wittenberg

Arrive 7:00am - Depart 1:00pm

Guided tour through the “Reformation City” of Wittenberg including the Luther House: The importance of Wittenberg historically was due to its close connection with Martin Luther and the dawn of the Protestant Reformation. Several of its buildings are associated with the events of this time. Wittenberg is home to numerous important historical artifacts, as well as portraits and other paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder and Younger. On the doors of All Saints' Church, the Schlosskirche ("castle church" built 1496–1506) Luther nailed his 95 theses in 1517. During your visit of Luther’s House (a museum) you will learn more about his life and the meaning of his work.

Day 4 – Meissen

Arrive 5:30am - Depart 1:00pm

Guided tour through the old town of Meissen with picturesque Renaissance houses and a visit to the famous porcelain factory. Then, some time to wander around afterwards. Time for going ashore under your own steam.

Day 5 – Dresden

Arrive 5:00 pm (day before) - Depart 5:30pm

Guided city tour through Dresden: The coach tour through the city of Dresden – also known as "Florence on the Elbe", - gives you a fine impression of this lovely city. You then take a guided walk through the centre to see the major sights of the rebuilt Church of Our Lady, the Zwinger and the Semper Opera House. The city has many finely restored buildings and it will not fail to impress you.

Excursion to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains with panoramic trip and visit to the Bastei with a magnificent view of the striking table mountains (from Dresden to Pirna).

Day 6 - Litoměřice

Arrive2:30pm - Depart 4:30pm

Guided tour of Litoměřice one of the oldest towns in the Czech Republic, with its historic buildings.

Day 7 – Exploring Prague

Arrive 2:00pm

Guided tour through the golden city of Prague: Prague is known as the „Golden City“. You first drive to the Castle (Hradschin). It was built in the 9th Century and, apart from a few short interruptions, it has been the political centre of both Prague and Bohemia. A series of kings and emperors have been responsible for its development. A guided walk through the city centre then takes you along the river bank to Charles’ Bridge, which dates back to the 14th Century. The original Gothic structure was later decorated with Baroque trappings and transformed into an architectural masterpiece. The square is dominated by the Old Town Hall with its famous astronomical clock.

Day 8 – Prague

Disembarkation until 9:00 a.m. Transfer to Prague Airport or add a city stay (prices on request).

The excursions marked in bold are optional and can be booked individually on board at extra cost or can be pre-paid as an inclusive package (prices available on request). All other guided tours as described in the itinerary are included in the price. Arrival and departure times are guidance times. We reserve the right to change itineraries and excursion programmes. If a route cannot be travelled due to low/high water or a ship defect, the shipping company reserves the right to take passengers on this route by bus, to accommodate them in hotels and/or change the route. In certain circumstances it may be necessary to change to another ship.
