Passau - Budapest - Passau (8 days)

Day 1 - Arrive in Passau

Passau: Casting off 5:00 p.m.
Fly from London to Munich and transfer by local rail services to vessel. Embarkation from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Day 2 – Ybbs / Wachau / Vienna

Ybbs: Mooring 6:00 a.m. - Casting off 12:00 p.m.

Visit to Maria Taferl, one of the most significant places of pilgrimage in Lower Austria and its impressive Basilica, or visit to the imposing hydroelectric power station Ybbs-Persenbeug.

Wachau:
Cruise through the UNESCO World Heritage Wachau.

Vienna: Mooring 8:30 p.m.
Heuriger excursion to a rustic Viennese wine bar or evening excursion to the famous Prater and ride on the Ferris wheel, one of the best knows marks in Vienna.

Day 3 – Vienna

Vienna: Casting off 7:00 p.m.

City tour/walk through the traditional City on the Danube Vienna with St Stephen’s Cathedral, Hofburg and the ring road. Then, time to make your own discoveries.

Guided city tour through Vienna: From the jetty it goes past the "New Vienna" with the Uno City and the Danube Island. See imposing magnificent buildings such as the State Opera, the Burgtheater, the Hofburg, the Parliament, the City Hall and the Votive Church while driving along the famous Ringstrasse. Afterwards on the tour, you will experience this charming city and its world-famous “Viennese charm” up close. After about 30 minutes of free time, the bus awaits for the return trip and takes you past the Praterstern and the trading quay back to your ship. Then, time to make your own discoveries.

Excursion to the charming Biedermeier city of Baden or actively experience Vienna on a bicycle tour or enjoy Vienna from lofty heights on an exclusive helicopter ride.

Day 4 – Budapest

Budapest: Mooring 12:00 p.m.
City tour/walk through glittering Budapest with its impressive buildings with free time to explore independently.

Guided city tour through Budapest: Budapest is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and is not without reason called the "Queen of the Danube". The river divides the Hungarian metropolis into the districts of Buda and Pest. First we will drive through the city center and enjoy the flair of the city. With the Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Matthias Church, the castle district tells of glory of the ancient times. Afterwards, continue to Gellertberg, where you can take a short photo break to enjoy the impressive view of the Danube and the buildings on the banks of the river, as well as the numerous bridges in Budapest.

Excursion Budapest by night with Hungarian music or trip on the river rider bus.

Day 5 – Exploring Budapest

Budapest: Casting off 2:00 p.m.

Experience a Puszta tour with a traditional riding demonstration or explore the interesting and unknown corners of Budapest by foot or actively experience Budapest on a bicycle tour. 

Day 6 - Bratislava

Bratislava: Mooring 8:00 a.m. - Casting off 2:00 p.m.
Bratislava city tour through the lovingly restored lanes of the old town and a trip to the castle, the city’s landmark. Then, time to make your own discoveries.

Bratislava guided city tour: Bratislava is located in the immediate vicinity of the border with Austria and Hungary in the fertile Danube plains, south of the Little Carpathians. The old town has been magnificently renovated with great attention to detail. When visiting Bratislava, we will first drive through the embassy district to the castle (Hrad), which towers high above the city and is considered its symbol. There you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the city. Here you will also find more information on the eventful history of the castle, which was the residence of numerous Hungarian kings for a long time before Maria Theresa settled there. On the walk through the old town of Bratislava you will see the redoubt, the National Theater, the town hall and some baroque palaces and the city gates that the k.u.k. Testify monarchy. Among other things, you will also get to know the most famous man from Bratislava, the Gullimann Cumil. Then, time to make your own discoveries.

Day 7 – Visiting Melk

Melk: Mooring 7:30 a.m. - Casting off 1:30 p.m.
Visit to the imposing Benedictine Melk Abbey.

The baroque Benedictine monastery Melk towers impressively above the city at the entrance to the Wachau. Melk has been a spiritual and cultural centre of the country for more than 1,000 years. The pen has become known literarily, among other things, through Umberto Eco's novel “The Name of the Rose”. The imposing baroque building is a visible expression of the importance of the pen in that period. After the tour of the Abbey, you still have the opportunity to explore the outdoor facilities yourself before the bus picks you up and brings you back to the ship.

Day 8 – Disembark in Passau

Passau: Mooring 7:30 a.m.
Disembarkation until 9:30 a.m. Transfer by rail to Munich Airport for return journey home or extend your stay with a Munich City Stay Package (prices on request).
