Day 10 - Novi Sad
Novi Sad: Mooring 2:30 p.m. - Casting off 11:30 p.m.
You will be amazed during your visit of Bucharest with its wide alleys and impressing buildings. It is called "Little Paris of the East" for a reason! Experience the special atmosphere of the city during a stroll through the old-town (Lipskan), where you have the opportunity to visit one of the oldest Romanian-Orthodox churches „Stavropoleus“ and learn more about the history of the religion. After a short fotostop at one of the biggest buildings of the world, the Palace of Parliament, you´ll go back to the vessel.
Day 11 - Aljmaš / Batina
Aljmaš: Mooring 8:00 a.m. - Casting off 9:00 a.m.
Approx. a 1-hour bus ride from our pier in the area between Danube and Drava lies the Kopacki rit Nature Park, one of the largest and best-preserved wetlands in Europe. The canals and lakes, which are covered with reeds and whose surface is covered with white water lilies, are mostly surrounded by white willow trees. These give numerous freshwater fish (carp, pike, perch), reptiles (fire salamander, pond turtle) and bird species (cormorants, storks) a home. Probably the most famous inhabitant is Europe's largest eagle: the white-tailed eagle. Experience the untouched nature on a boat trip and if you are lucky, you will also see some of the wildlife there. Kindly note that we cannot guarantee that the animal world will show itself in all its splendor. Afterwards you will visit the nearby Rural House, where you will learn more about the area, its tradition and culture in an interesting and humorous presentation. Tasting local products such as Ajvar and slivovitz is included as much as finding out what lies behind the fearsome "Busho" mask before going back to the ship.
Batina: Mooring 12:00 p.m. - Casting off 2:00 p.m.
Day 12 - Budapest
Budapest: Mooring 9:00 a.m. - Casting off 9:00 p.m.
Today you will experience Budapest up close and from a new point of view. While exploring the Hungarian capital by foot and metro, sights like the Parliament Buildings, St. Stephen's Basilica and the small squares and passages with beautiful statues and buildings from many different eras, will make this a day to remember. You will also have the opportunity to discover the hidden corners and the unique atmosphere of the city, away from the hustle and bustle as we guide you to the lesser known, but beautiful areas of the city. After taking a journey to the past on the oldest electrified underground railway system on the European continent, which is only possible in Budapest, you will hop in the metro and travel to the Unicum Museum while enjoying the beauty of the Danube river.At the Unicum Museum, a captivating guided tour awaits you, there you will learn about the Zwack family and how this legendary drink is made. Unicum has been produced in Budapest since 1892 and all the while the recipe has stayed a well-guarded secret. To top this excellent day off, you will enjoy a tasting, before heading back to the ship.
Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and is also called the "queen of the Danube". During your city tour by bus and by foot you will see for example the castle district with the fisherman’s bastion and the Matthias Church. Afterwards there ill be a short photo-stop on Gellerthill to enjoy a wonderful view over the city.
City walk "Budapest impressions" and journey on the oldest underground train in the European continent or actively experience Budapest on a bicycle tour.
Day 13 - Bratislava
Bratislava: Mooring 3:00 p.m. - Casting off 6:00 p.m.
Close to the border to Austria and Hungary, Bratislava lies in the fertile Danube plain south of the Little Carpathians. First you will have a short bus tour that will take you up to the Fortress. You will be impressed by the wonderful panoramic view over the city. Learn more about the interesting history of the fortress which used to be the residence of numerous Hungarian kings in the past. Afterwards you will explore the beautifully restored Old Town with its baroque buildings such as the Redoute, National theatre, the Town Hall and palaces which remind the visitors of their glorious past during k.u.k. monarchy. Among other things, you will also get to know probably the most famous man of Bratislava, Gullimann Cumil.
Day 14 - Weißenkirchen
Weißenkirchen: Mooring 9:00 a.m. - Casting off 11:30 a.m.
An indispensable destination is the old Kuenringer town Dürnstein, where tradition and beauty merge in a unique way. During your guided walk in Dürnstein, the "pearl of the Wachau region", you will visit the Baroque Church which is the most famous landmark of the town with its blue-white tower. Enjoy during the subsequent free time the special atmosphere of the place.
Day 8 – Disembark in Passau
Passau: Mooring 8:30 a.m.
Disembarkation until 9:30 a.m. Transfer by local rail services to Munich Airport for your return journey home or extend your stay in Munich with a City Stay Package (prices on request).
