To really see North America, to understand the land and its people, you need to explore not only the iconic cities, but the pathways between. American Queen Voyages encourages guests to slow down and meander the waterways, to explore an America you thought you knew, in an entirely different way.
American Queen Voyages embodies the story of America’s fabled rivers in our iconic red paddle wheelers. Over the past 10 years, our flagship riverboat, American Queen, has traversed the waterways throughout the Deep South and the Heartland. She meanders as far north as Minneapolis, as far south as New Orleans, and as far west as Pittsburgh, on occasion even journeying along the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers. American Empress calls the Columbia and Snake rivers of the Pacific Northwest her home, while American Countess travels where the soul of the American South flows. We’ve built an award-winning fleet of paddle wheelers and boats. They’re your home away from home, and wherever they go, curious locals line up along the shores welcoming passengers when they arrive and waving goodbye when they leave. Every journey is all-inclusive and complete with on board activities, shore excursions, genuine hospitality, elevated dining, and sophisticated accommodation.
Inspired by the great steamboats of the 19th century, our four vintage-style paddlewheelers relive the experiences of a previous generation on a range of cruises to the historic Deep South or Pacific North-West, with all the modern, luxurious amenities that today’s travellers expect.
Experience the romance of the river in a boat as gloriously ornamental as the white ‘wedding cakes’ created in the Victorian era, but with every modern amenity. With four remarkable paddle wheelers in our fleet, we are able to provide a unique vantage point from which to experience the unfolding panorama of American history along the river banks. Join us on board one of these iconic vessels and connect with America’s history in authentic style and luxury.
American Queen The largest steamboat ever built, the grand American Queen is a gracious and elegant triumph of American ingenuity. Although filled with today’s modern amenities, her rooms and accommodations display all the opulence of the American Victorian era. Glistening woodwork, fresh flowers and antiques adorn her interior spaces. Outside, lacy filigree evokes memories of the many stately riverboats that preceded her and so inspired her designers.
American Duchess is the first all-suite paddle wheeler on U.S. rivers, a floating, intimate masterpiece that can carry up to 166 guests through America's heartland. The paddle wheeler, created from a 1995 hull, was completely reconstructed to become one of the most luxurious river cruising vessels in the country, featuring single-seating main dining and entertainment venues, soaring ceilings, and all of the features guests have come to expect on other American Queen Voyages cruises.
American Countess is the latest addition to our fleet of authentic paddlewheelers, and the newest on U.S. rivers, offering many of the same exciting heartland and deep South itineraries as her sisters the American Queen and American Duchess. Built from an existing hull, the American Countess underwent significant reconstruction, including lengthening the boat by 60 feet. Guests will enjoy the signature distinctions that have made American Queen Voyages the most award-winning river cruise line in America.
American Empress Proudly serving as the largest overnight riverboat west of the Mississippi River, the American Empress delivers classic elegance and modern luxury on a grand scale. One step onboard and you will quickly discover that there is far more to this vessel than her welcoming appearance and signature red paddlewheel.
