For the sports enthusiast it has some of the premier facilities in Europe - Golf, Tennis, Riding and Watersports combine with the wonderful climate to provide the ideal atmosphere for practising your favourite pastime. However, what makes the Algarve so attractive is the Algarvians themselves, they are largely unaffected by modern day tourism.
Much of their culture and tradition remains today and the little whitewashed houses and domed churches, decorated with blue and white patterned tiles echo a bygone age. You will find the local fishermen going about their daily business amongst the sunbathers on the beach and if you travel inland to the Monchique mountains you will be fascinated by the unspoilt villages and the many old customs that still survive. Algarvian cuisine should not be ignored and wherever you go there is an abundance of eating places ranging from á la carte restaurants to small beach bars and cafes serving traditional meat and fish dishes, such as Chicken Piri Piri and charcoal grilled Sardines, accompanied by year round fresh fruit and vegetables, washed down with good local wines.
